Karingal Nursing Home Project

Karingal Gardens is a $14m dual-level nursing home in Taree on the mid-north coast of NSW and provides accommodation for 100 residents. It was officially opened on Saturday 18th October 2008.

Harwel were required to manufacture and install 3 lifts.

The main lift was a 26 persons emergency lift manufactured and installed to AS1735.3 and E.3.6 BCA, E3.4. This unit is a twin ram configuration.

The other two passenger lifts were 13 person lifts installed to AS1735.3 and E3.6 BCA. These units were single ram configuration.

All three lifts have a travel of 3300mm and a speed of .4 metres per second.
Landing indication and internal car indication were a requirement.

The lifts have been finished in satin stainless wall panelling and opal ceilings with LED down lights.
Accessories are stainless handrails, stainless nurses stations and car operating panels.
Doors are centre opening satin stainless.
The client installed their own carpet floor covering.

Ventilation is concealed in the ceilings and under skirtings.

These lifts all return safely to ground in an emergency
when power is cut and the doors open to allow easy exit.
