3G Mobile Network is shutting down in June 2024 – lift emergency phones are affected.

Telstra, Optus and Vodafone are shutting down their 3G (3rd Generation) network from June 2024 across Australia. Launched in 2006, Telstra advise that 3G no longer meets the growing demand for mobile services. To reduce congestion, increase capacity and improve coverage, 3G are being replaced with the next generation of mobile technology – 4G.

Your lift’s emergency phone will no longer work after June if it still has a 3G gateway.

4G gateways are available now. Contact us now for a quote to supply and install before the last-minute rush.

The lift’s telephone is an essential part of your lift’s safety system and allows trapped passengers to call for help. The emergency telephone must be operational at all times, even in a power outage. The 4G gateway will provide you with 2 hours of battery back-up so that, in the event of an entrapment after a power failure, persons still can call for help.
